Plants for the bathroom, the most humid room in the home
The bathroom can actually be an unexpectedly good place for plants, if there is a window that lets in natural light. Many green indoor plants thrive in the slightly higher humidity that is often found there, especially if the shower is used frequently. This makes the bathroom a great home for tropical plants with large leaves, which like to have moisture around them.
Plants in the bathroom do best if they are placed near a window, but it doesn't have to be super bright, plants that don't need a lot of light are perfect here. Many of the easy-care houseplants we list here can handle partial shade, and some even thrive better without direct sun. Do you have underfloor heating? Then pots that are on the floor can dry out faster, a tip is to water a little more often or place the pots on a tray with Leca marbles and water.
Are you looking for plants for the bathroom and wondering which ones work best for the bathroom?
We've collected our favorites, ranging from classic air-purifying plants to decorative varieties like Moses stone tablets and other green indoor plants that can handle a little darker and more humid conditions.
