Tillandsia are so-called air plants and come from the tropical areas of the New World such as Mexico and parts of the southern United States. They have a very unusual growth habit. Tillandsia grow completely without soil, hanging from branches and rocks. They absorb all their nutrients from the air and collect water from rain and moist air. They have a natural ability to cling to nearby structures and can be attached as hanging plants in many different ways.
