Read about Edible
Edible tropical fruits and berries.
Here we have collected all our tropical edible fruits. There are many different varieties from our own seeded tropical fruit trees to purchased plants from our growers. Growing your own edible fruits indoors is among the most magical things you can experience from indoor potted plants. It is a rare experience that is only achieved after good care and a lot of love for your fruit trees.
Many of our edible plants can also be grown outdoors, such as pawpaw and some winter-hardy fig trees. However, the vast majority of our selection are of tropical origin and require an indoor environment to be grown.
Some of our fruit trees.
Banana plant.
The banana plant is perhaps the most popular of our tropical fruit trees. The variety we have is the so-called dwarf banana. It is self-fertile and can actually flower indoors under the right conditions. The banana plant needs a lot of light and a sunny window is not always enough. With plant lighting or a sunny conservatory, several Swedes can and have succeeded in getting banana fruit indoors!
Coffee tree.
The coffee plant is fairly easy to care for as a houseplant indoors. It is not demanding when it comes to either sun or care. However, if you want to grow your own coffee beans, the coffee plant needs a lot of extra light in our latitudes. Plant lighting is in many cases a must-have to achieve this indoors.
Pawpaw.
Asamina triloba is a plant from North America with a tropical-tasting fruit. The tree is winter-hardy down to -27 degrees. This means that it can be grown outdoors in our southernmost latitudes. A very unique and incredibly tasty exotic fruit!
Read on for our growing tips to learn how to care for our tropical ornamental trees and fruit-bearing varieties. It's actually easier than you think to grow these unique plants in pots.
