Read about Agave
Agave genus (agave), succulents from the asparagus family
There are about 200 different species of Agave from Central and South America. In Sweden, agave is grown as a houseplant indoors, although there are some fairly cold-resistant agave varieties. From the many different species, some have been grown for their fiber-rich content as Sisalagave. For the production of Tequila in Mexico, the species Agave tequiliana 'tequila agave' is used almost exclusively.
Agave americana is a variety that is grown mostly for its appearance. It is also called the 'century plant' because it blooms extremely rarely. After the agave plant has bloomed, it dies. Agave americana in particular blooms with enormously tall spikes and is actually pollinated by birds. Agave shoots up from the root base which can be taken as cuttings to easily propagate Agave plants.
Agave is a very easy-care houseplant whose large-scale potential is hampered indoors by the lack of strong sunlight. Agave can be placed outside in the summer, often a little into the fall to help the plant grow with direct sun. Buy Agave online and start growing more!
