Kumquat produces edible small fruits
The small fruits both resemble and taste similar to an orange, the entire fruit including the peel is edible. The tree blooms with fragrant white flowers between April and May. This citrus plant can withstand frost but should still be brought inside in the fall and kept cool and bright. The trunk is also thornless!

Citrus japonica is one of 3 different varieties of kumquat and is the name of this species. It comes from China and the name kumquat means 'golden orange' in Chinese.

Care.
