Tamarindus indica, the tropical delicacy.
Tamarindus indica produces curved, brown fruits that are between 5-20 cm long. Inside is a sticky, sour pulp that surrounds the hard seeds. The fruit is used in a variety of culinary dishes, from sweet to savory, and is said to have medicinal properties. Growing tamarind in Sweden is no easy task, but with the right care, it is not impossible.
Botanical Description.
Tamarindus indica originates from Madagascar but has spread and is now cultivated in many tropical and subtropical areas around the world.

Appearance.
The leaves of the Tamarind plant are compound and pinnate, consisting of small, elliptical leaves that give the tree a feathery appearance. They are light green and darken over time.
Tamarindus indica can grow quickly and reach a height of up to 12-18 meters. The tree can be easily cut down to grow it indoors in a pot.
Care .
The tamarind plant is a relatively easy-care tree that thrives best in warm climates. For best growth, follow these tips. Tamarindus indica needs at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight each day to thrive. Keep the soil evenly moist but avoid overwatering. Grow in a well-drained soil mix like our peat-free soil.
