Tubular air plant with spirally twisted silver-brown leaves and pink flowers

Tillandsia flexuosa is a widespread species found from Florida and the Bahamas all the way down to northern South America. The plant is upright and tubular with spirally twisted leaves in a brownish-silver color with light cross bands, giving it a distinct and elegant appearance.

The inflorescence is red, tall, slender, and usually branched. The flowers are at right angles to the stem and are pink, creating a beautiful contrast against the silvery foliage.

Care

Easy to grow, especially when mounted on bark, cork, or wood. As an air plant (tillandsia), it does not need soil but absorbs moisture and nutrients through its leaves.

Thrives in a bright location. Water by spraying or dipping the plant a few times a week, ensuring it dries thoroughly between waterings, as standing water in the leaf base causes rot.

Keep warm as this is a particularly tropical species. The temperature should not fall below approximately 5 degrees Celsius. Ideal temperature 18-28 degrees Celsius with good air circulation.
