Meadow spikemoss forms dense mats and is perfect as a ground cover in a terrarium.
Selaginella apoda is native to much of the eastern United States and northeastern Mexico. It grows primarily in moist environments such as seeps, marshes, stream banks, wet meadows, and marsh edges.
It requires constant humidity and thrives in shady conditions.
Botanical description
The species belongs to the family Selaginellaceae and is not a true moss despite its name. The stems have smaller leaves in two rows and larger leaves in two rows. The species can be distinguished from common moss by the veins that run along the leaves.

Unlike other Selaginella species which are often tropical, S. apoda is adapted to temperate climates and can handle colder conditions.
Care
Place the plant in bright indirect light to partial shade. Keep the substrate constantly moist, use a well-drained soil such as our peat-free soil. The species grows naturally in wetlands and does not tolerate drying out.
Thrives in high humidity and is perfect for terrariums. As a houseplant, it should be kept in a glass bowl or other closed space to maintain humidity. Temperatures between 15-24°C are optimal. Buy Selaginella apoda online!
