This variety of easy-care Elephant Ear has variegated leaves.
Just as the name 'Mojito' suggests, the leaves are adorned with fresh and juicy shades of green, while the variegated, yet subtle patterns shift in tones of mint and lime . Each leaf is unique, with its own original variegation and color variation.
Care.
Elephant ear can withstand both cool and humid temperatures (even frost) as well as drier and warmer periods, making it a very easy-to-care-for houseplant.
This Pilea thrives best in partial shade . A place by a south or west window, protected from direct sunlight. Although it tolerates constant moisture, it is better to water it a little less and let the soil dry out superficially from time to time.
It should be planted in a loose substrate , but it should be finely structured because it has very thin roots, our peat-free soil is good. Pilea tolerates cold temperatures well and can be grown outdoors during the frost-free season.
Botanical description.
Pilea peperomioides originates from the mountainous areas around the city of Dali in the Chinese province of Yunnan. There, the Elephant Ear grows at altitudes between 1500 and 3000 meters, often in a very thin layer of humus directly on the rocks. It is therefore not a tropical plant from hot and humid rainforests, but a hardy and adaptable species.

The elephant ear came to Europe in 1946 through the Norwegian diplomat Agnar Espegren , who had to leave China and took the plant with him!
Appearance.
Pilea peperomioides 'Mojito' starts as a small, airy rosette, but over time the main stem becomes woody, often losing leaves at the bottom and taking on an appearance reminiscent of a mini-tree with a crown of round leaves.
This rare beauty is a true collector's plant, perfect for those who appreciate unique and unusual specimens. Buy Pilea peperomioides 'Mojito' online!

Fin!
