A Rarity Out of the Ordinary
What makes Philodendron 'Florida Ghost' truly unique is that its new leaves always emerge pure white and then gradually turn completely green over a period of a few weeks to approximately 1.5 months (depending on temperature). Sometimes, certain areas remain white-variegated.
With larger, well-growing plants, you'll see a wonderful color gradient from white to green. As the name suggests, the plant has ghost-shaped leaves in white and green that might be the most beautiful thing you've ever seen!
Botanical Description
Philodendron 'Florida Ghost' is a variegated color form of Philodendron 'Florida'. 'Florida' is a primary hybrid of P. pedatum and P. squamiferum, created back in 1956 by Bob McColley at his nursery "Bamboo Nurseries" in Ontario, Florida.
Two variegated forms were then selected from this hybrid: Philodendron 'Florida Beauty' and Philodendron 'Florida Ghost'. 'Florida Beauty' has a rather normal variegation that one would typically find in Philodendron (beautiful, of course), but 'Florida Ghost' is something very special with its new leaves always emerging pure white.
Care
Thrives in bright, indirect light. Strong light helps maintain the white color on new leaves. Water when the top few centimeters of soil have dried out. Use well-draining soil with good air circulation.
Requires high humidity (60-80%) for optimal growth. Ideal temperature 20-26°C. Provide the plant with climbing support such as a moss pole. Fertilize monthly during the growing season. Buy Philodendron florida ghost online!
