Philodendron brenesii has oblong, grooved, very decorative leaves.
Philodendron brenesii is a unique species from Costa Rica and Panama , easily recognizable due to its thick trunk and shiny leaves on the upper side, with a matte underside. The leaves are slightly arrow-shaped, thick, about 80 cm long and have many prominent sunken veins.
Care.
Young plants have a creeping growth habit until they find a support to climb on. The ones we sell here are already relatively large and can already be given a plant support . Place the plant in a sunny place but protect it from the strongest summer sun. Water when the soil is almost completely dry.
Botanical description.
Philodendron brenesii is native from Costa Rica to northwestern Colombia. It is a climbing Philodendron that grows primarily in humid tropical areas as an epiphyte (growing on other plants).
Appearance.
The trunk of Philodendron brenesii can reach around 2 m high when climbing. It quickly becomes tree-like. The leaves are shiny green with a grooved pattern and extend up to 80 cm with a width of about 40 cm . It is mainly for the beautiful leaves that the plant is grown as an ornamental plant indoors.
