Grow your own passion fruit at home!
Passion flowers have fascinated botanists since they were first discovered in tropical America. The rich symbolism surrounding the flowers' structure, reminiscent of the suffering of Christ, contributed to their early popularity in Europe.
Inside the passion fruit is a jelly-like pulp filled with small, crunchy seeds. This pulp is extremely aromatic and has an intense, sweet-sour taste.
Botanical description
Passiflora edulis comes from Brazil & Northeastern Argentina.
Care
Optimal temperature for growth is between 20-30°C. Direct sun is best for flowering and fruiting, which becomes difficult in winter. For best results, we recommend additional plant lighting . Regular watering is necessary, but the soil should be allowed to dry out slightly between waterings. Plant in well-draining soil, e.g. our peat-free soil.
Passion fruit is a versatile and rewarding plant for both home gardeners and commercial growers. Buy passion fruit plant online!
