Hoya waymaniae (IML 1756): Record-length flower clusters from Borneo
A rare Hoya from Sabah with extraordinary 30 cm long flower clusters and wavy-edged leaves. A challenge for the experienced collector.
Imagine flower clusters hanging 30 centimeters, longer than a standard ruler. That's what Hoya waymaniae (IML 1756) delivers when it decides to bloom. With large, wavy-edged leaves and orange flowers in these record-length clusters, it's a sight few other Hoyas can match.
Botanical description
Hoya waymaniae comes from the rainforest around Nabawan in Borneo and was first described in 1995. The IML 1756 clone is distinguished by its large oval leaves with characteristic wavy edges. Other clones are available with darker orange flowers, but this one is known for its spectacular long flower clusters.

Care
This porcelain flower can be a challenge even for experienced growers:
Strong lighting is needed, regular LED is rarely enough for flowering. Extremely sparing watering, dry 1-2 weeks between waterings. It takes about 2-3 years from cutting to first flowering. When replanting, well-drained soil is essential, e.g. our aroid soil.
For the collector who seeks the extraordinary and has the patience for record-long flower clusters. If you are interested, you can read more on this exciting website , the picture of the flower is also borrowed from there. Buy Hoya waymaniae online!
