An easy-care wax plant with visible veins and flowers that smell of cinnamon!
The leaves are small, pointed and oval, measuring between 3 and 6 cm. They feature distinct leaf veins that create a beautiful pattern. The flowers are small, creamy white, and covered in fine hairs. They form in clusters of 16 to 30 flowers and release a strong, pleasant fragrance.
The species Hoya lacunosa is native to regions ranging from Thailand to western and central Malesia.
Care
Wax plants thrive best in mild conditions. They prefer partial shade over direct sunlight, temperatures around or above 20 °C, and regular watering. The surface of the substrate should dry out between waterings, but it must not dry out completely.
During the growing season, they should be fertilized sparingly, for example with orchid fertilizer every other week. To promote flowering, a fertilizer with a lower nitrogen content can be used. Plant them in an airy soil mix or orchid substrate, as they often grow epiphytically in nature.
Hoya lacunosa is no exception. It can even tolerate somewhat drier conditions than many other Hoyas and can handle brief drying out without being damaged.
