Small-leaved mountain Hoya from Thailand with H. bella-like flowers

Hoya engleriana is a very small-leaved Hoya from Thailand that has also spread to Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam. It is found in mountainous areas that are often shrouded in mist and clouds. The plant is named after Dr. Engler, a famous editor of botanical yearbooks.

The inflorescence never bears more than four flowers in a cluster at the end of a very short peduncle. The flowers are delightful and almost impossible to distinguish from H. bella; however, they lack any noticeable fragrance.

This is not the easiest Hoya to grow and is best suited for those with some experience.

Care

Thrives in bright, indirect light. Never let the plant dry out completely, but it should definitely not be overwatered; this is crucial for this species and one of the reasons it is considered more demanding than many other Hoyas.

Keep the substrate evenly slightly moist and use an airy, well-drained mix. As a mountain species from misty heights, it appreciates high humidity and slightly cooler temperatures. Ideal temperature 16-24 degrees Celsius.

Works excellently in a hanging basket or on a trellis. Buy Hoya engleriana online!

When buying live plants, transport can sometimes affect the condition of the plant. We strive to ensure that all plants arrive in good health, but minor shipping damage, such as a torn leaf or bent stem, is sometimes unavoidable. Read more about our policy here.
