The hibiscus is Malaysia's national flower, where it has official status, and is widely cultivated as an ornamental plant in tropical and subtropical regions. Its flowers are also edible.

This hibiscus thrives best in warm, sunny environments and requires well-drained soil to flourish. It is ideal for both indoor cultivation and as an outdoor ornamental plant during the summer.

Requires regular watering and should be kept consistently moist throughout the growing season. During the winter months, watering should be reduced.

The species does not tolerate temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius, so in our climate, it is best grown indoors or under glass. Potted plants can be placed outdoors during the summer months and brought indoors for protection during winter to guard against frost.
