Small Jewel Orchid from Indochina with Glittering Gold-Red Leaf Veins
Anoectochilus albolineatus is a small jewel orchid from Indochina with beautifully glittering leaf veins. It grows in very shady places, usually directly on wet rocks (lithophytic). The plant truly looks like a tiny jewel.

It grows (without a flower stalk) only about 5-10 centimeters high with leaves 3-5 centimeters in size. The leaves have a dark green, sometimes almost black color, and gold to red, glittering veins with a prominently marked central vein.
The leaves are arranged spirally on the individual shoots, and when they reach a certain size, an inflorescence emerges from their center, which can reach up to 25 centimeters in height. The flowers are small, brownish-red or white, and resemble a tiny insect skeleton.
After flowering, the shoot from which the inflorescence grew slowly dies, but develops numerous stolons that in turn grow to flowering size. Through this cycle, dense mats develop from a single plant over time, which looks absolutely fantastic in a terrarium.
Care
Requires very little light and should never be placed in direct sunlight. The leaf color is also better in low light, but growth will naturally be slower then. Should be kept in a terrarium or plant cabinet and always requires warm temperatures and high humidity.
Plant in a very loose substrate. In a terrarium, it can also be kept lithophytically if you have a rock or similar surface available that is always slightly damp but not wet. Do not keep too moist and avoid water in the center of the shoot as this can cause rot.
Ideal temperature 20-28°C with high humidity (80-90%). Buy Anoectochilus albolineatus | Jewel Orchid online!
