Botanical Description

Origin: Borneo

Extinction risk: Endangered

Foliage: What really makes the plant unique is its foliage, which grows from a tuber underground. The entire giant tree-sized plant is actually technically just a single leaf, making it very vulnerable to damage. Scientists believe that this is why the genus evolved the distinctive pattern on the stem, which resembles a snake, as a defense mechanism.

Amazing Flower: One of the most spectacular features of Amorphophallus hewittii is its amazing flower. When it blooms, it reveals a large and impressive flower with a characteristic smell reminiscent of rotting meat. This unusual characteristic attracts pollinators such as flies and beetles and makes the plant a fascinating subject for scientific study.

The plant has a fascinating flowering cycle that is worth admiring. The plant can take several years to flower for the first time, and when it does, the bloom is often short-lived but spectacular. This rare event is a prized reward for patient growers and collectors. Buy Amorphophallus online!
