Alocasia ninja has dark velvety leaves with sharp, wide veins.
Alocasia ninja is a cultivar of Alocasia reginula . It is very similar to Alocasia 'Black Velvet', which differs in having slightly lighter leaves. This plant naturally grows in the darkness of the rainforest floor. This makes it ideal as an indoor potted plant as it does not require bright light.
Care.
Alocasia ninja thrives in well-drained soil that can be kept moist at all times. Place the plant in indirect sunlight and repot when the entire pot is full of roots. In winter when the air is dry the leaves can turn brown and this can sometimes be prevented by placing a saucer of water under the pot.
Botanical description.
Alocasia reginula is the plant from which the 'ninja' cultivar was bred. It probably originates from Borneo. It is also likely endangered in the wild.

Appearance.
Alocasia ninja has dark, velvety leaves with prominent white veins. As a houseplant it maintains a compact size. Small shoots called 'corms' can be found superficially in the soil around the base, these can easily be twisted off and used to take cuttings of Alocasia. Buy Alocasia ninja online!
