Fast-growing variegated alocasia with stable greenish-white pattern, easy to care for beginners

Alocasia odora is a very widespread alocasia in Southeast Asia that is very similar to A. macrorrhizos but remains slightly smaller. From a size of about 30 centimeters, the two species can be easily distinguished by the leaf shape; A. odora has a closed sinus, i.e. the leaf is closed above the petiole, while in A. macrorrhizos this is only the case in very young plants.

Alocasia odora 'Batik' is a variegated cultivar of the classic A. odora with extensive white areas and spots that are not pure white but still have a residual chlorophyll content. This gives them a slightly greenish appearance and they do not die off as is the case with pure white variegated plants! This variety therefore grows very quickly and easily despite the extensive white areas.

This plant can grow quite large and expansive but usually remains smaller in indoor cultivation and grows slower. It can grow to a height of about 1.2 meters and a width of up to 1.2 meters. It is very easy to care for and therefore also suitable for beginners.

Care
