Alocasia Dragon Scale Albo Variegata - The Hottest Alocasian!
Alocasia 'Dragon Scale Albo Variegata' is an extraordinary variation of the already spectacular Dragon Scale alocasia. This rare Alocasia combines the classic dragon scale-like leaves with stunning albo variegation, striking white and green areas that make each leaf unique.
For plant collectors and enthusiasts, this is one of the most sought-after alocasias right now!
Botanical Description
The scientific name is Alocasia baginda , while 'Dragon Scale Albo Variegata' describes this particular variegated form of the Dragon Scale cultivar. Alocasia originated in Borneo and the variegated form has developed through selection of natural mutations.

It grows upright and compact with a robust underground rhizome. The plant can reach a height of 30-60 cm, making it perfect for indoor cultivation.
What really sets this variety apart is the spectacular combination of texture and color. The leaves retain the characteristic dragon scale texture, a thick, leathery surface with deeply embossed nerve structures that create a three-dimensional scale pattern. Added to this is the dramatic albo variegation: large white sections contrast against dark green areas, often with subtle transitions and marbling.
The variegation can vary from leaf to leaf, some may be almost completely white, others have white edges or flames radiating from the veins.
The leaf shape is broad and heart-shaped with clear, raised veins. The metallic sheen is also present in the white parts, giving the leaves a beautiful luster.
Care
Light: Requires bright, indirect light to maintain its variegation. The white parts need enough light to support photosynthesis, but direct sun can burn the delicate white sections.
Soil: Use a very well-drained soil mix. A mix of perlite, bark and sphagnum or coconut fiber works great, such as our aroid soil. Good drainage is critical to prevent root rot. A good pot with good drainage is also highly recommended, such as orchid pots.
Water: Keep the soil evenly moist but not wet. Alocasias are sensitive to both drying out and overwatering. Let the soil almost dry out between waterings, but avoid total drying out.
Humidity: Requires high humidity (60-80%). Use a humidifier, place on a humidity tray or group with other plants to create a local microclimate.
Temperature: Thrives best in stable temperatures between 20-26°C. Avoid temperature shocks and cold drafts that can cause leaf damage.
Fertilization: Fertilize sparingly during the growing season with diluted potting soil once a week. Excessive fertilization can negatively affect the variegation.
As a variegated plant, this Alocasia is more sensitive than its pure green counterpart. The white parts lack chlorophyll and make the plant more vulnerable to stress. A stable environment and careful care are essential to maintain the beautiful variegation. Buy Alocasia Dragon Scale Albo Variegata online!
