Aglaonema is believed to bring good luck and has been cultivated in Asia for centuries.
Aglaonema was first introduced to the West in 1885 via the Kew Gardens in England. There, Aglaonema has been cultivated, hybridized and bred into a wide range of varieties, including 'King of Siam' . They thrive in low light and are popular indoor houseplants because they can tolerate low light.
Botanical Description.
Aglaonema commutatum is the species and 'King of Siam' is the cultivar. The species comes from central Malaysia.

Aglaonema king of siam has large, elliptical to oval leaves with a dark green base color and silver-red patterning. The leaves are glossy and can grow up to 20-30 cm long and 10-15 cm wide. They have a distinct, almost metallic sheen. As a houseplant, it becomes bushy and grows upwards.

Aglaonema 'King of Siam' should be grown in well-drained soil, preferably a mix for tropical plants like our peat-free soil .
