Pilea peperomioides , known as elephant ear, is easy to care for and has thick, round leaves.
The elephant ear was introduced to Europe in the 1940s by a Norwegian missionary, Agnar Espegren, who brought cuttings from China. Since then, it has spread and become popular as a houseplant in many countries.
Botanical description.
Pilea peperomioides is native to southwestern China, particularly Yunnan Province. It grows naturally in shady and humid mountainous areas.

Appearance.
Elephant ear usually grows to 30-40 cm tall. The leaves are round, thick and fleshy, often dark green. The leaves are on long, narrow stems and over time a cute little trunk forms. Eventually, elephant ear can look like a small tree in miniature form.
Care.
Pilea peperomioides thrives best in bright, indirect light. The soil should be kept evenly moist but not wet. It thrives best at room temperature, between 18°C and 24°C. This plant is very drought tolerant as it originates from relatively dry areas of China.
Because of its ability to produce many shoots that can be divided and replanted, the elephant ear has become a symbol of friendship and sharing. It is common to give cuttings to friends and family. Buy Elephant Ear online!

It came in a very well packaged package and is now in my kitchen window. Super nice and big. I couldn't be more pleased with everything.
