Hybrid that combines the best of both parents
Philodendron 'Splendid' is a popular hybrid between Philodendron verrucosum and Philodendron melanochrysum . It combines the best of both species, the velvety, deeply veined leaves of P. verrucosum and the elegant shape and size of P. melanochrysum.
The result is a climbing plant with large, soft leaves that can take on truly impressive proportions in the right environment.
Botanical description
This is a cultivated hybrid and does not occur in the wild. The leaves are heart-shaped with clear light veins and a deep green velvety surface that shifts beautifully in the light. The underside may have reddish tones, especially on younger leaves.
Care
Philodendron splendid needs a plant support to grow its large leaves. We recommend a moss stake that allows the roots to anchor along the way up.
The plant thrives best in bright but indirect light. Avoid direct sun, which can burn the leaves.
Hold temperatures between 18–28 °C. Avoid cold drafts. Can handle normal humidity around 50-60% indoors.
The soil should be kept slightly moist but never wet. Let the top layer dry slightly between waterings. The plant should be planted in an airy, well-draining substrate, preferably with elements of bark, perlite and sphagnum, like our aroid soil.

Mycket intressant korsning av två philodendron med stora och vackra blad. Jag fick ett fint exemplar.
