Philodendron atabapoense is an exotic climbing plant with elongated silvery leaves.
This cold plant can be placed in hanging pots or near a trellis to promote its natural growth habits. When the plant is allowed to anchor its stem on a support, the leaves grow larger and larger, up to 1 meter long! The plant comes from Venezuela and grows along the Atabopo River, which gave the plant its name.
Botanical Description.
Philodendron atabapoense is endemic to the Atabopo River in the Amazon rainforest of Venezuela. The species is believed to be endangered in the wild.

Appearance.
The leaves of Philodendron atabapoense are elongated and narrow, often dark green to silvery with a glossy surface. They can grow up to 1 meter long and 35 cm wide.
Philodendron atabapoense is a climbing plant that likes to use supports such as tree trunks or moss stakes to grow upwards. It can reach heights of up to 2 meters under optimal conditions. The plant produces aerial roots that help it attach to surfaces and absorb moisture and nutrients from the air.
Especially when young, Philodendron atabapoense can easily be confused with Philodendron billietiae. However, there are some simple characteristics that distinguish them. The underside of the leaves is red to purple in young P. atabapoense , while they are green in P. billietiae. The petioles of P. atabapoense are green or slightly reddish , while those of P. billietiae are yellow to bright orange.
Care.
Philodendron atabapoense thrives best in bright, indirect light , but can also tolerate slightly shadier conditions. It prefers an evenly moist but well-drained aroid soil. Regular watering is recommended, but the soil should be allowed to dry out slightly between waterings.
Philodendron atabapoense is a captivating and easy-care plant that offers both aesthetic value and ease of care, making it an excellent choice for any plant enthusiast. Buy Philodendron atabapoense online and bring this tropical plant into your home!
