A stylish and easy-care houseplant. This variety has dark spots and beige variegation.
The variety M. leuconeura 'Kerchoveana' Variegata has light green leaves with dark spots and beige variegation. The fun thing is that the pattern varies greatly. Spots, stripes or halfmoon variegation can appear on the same plant!
It is known for its special movement pattern; in the evening it folds its leaves like hands in prayer, which has given it the nickname "prayer plant".
The plant grows to around 30–40 cm tall and spreads rather than grows tall. It grows from an underground rhizome that stores water and nutrients, making it quite hardy.
Botanical description.
The prayer plant ( Maranta leuconeura ) is a low-growing, creeping plant from the east coast of Brazil where it grows in the subtropical and very rainy area called the Atlantic Rainforest.
There are many different types of arrowroot in cultivation, often with Latin-sounding trade names such as "tricolor", "amabilis" or "fascinator", but these are not official botanical names but just varietal names. Buy Maranta leuconeura variegata online!
