The northernmost naturally occurring palm in the world
This beautiful and extremely hardy palm originates from the western Mediterranean region as far as western Italy, growing both in lowlands and in mountainous areas up to 2300 meters above sea level.
The palm is a small species with distinctive fan-shaped leaves. The trunk is hairy, similar to Trachycarpus fortunei. In nature, it grows to about one meter high, but in cultivation, it can develop several meter-high trunks.
This is an almost foolproof palm to grow, easy, rewarding, and tolerant of a wide range of climates and conditions. Individual specimens can live for 100 years.
Botanical description

Chamaerops humilis occurs wild around the Mediterranean and southwestern Europe. The species was also introduced to Egypt. It is often seen as an ornamental plant in the Mediterranean, but also in Germany, France, and the UK, it can be seen in gardens and parks.
Historically, leaf fibers from the palm have been used as stuffing in furniture.
Care
Tolerant of drought but thrives in well-drained soil. Prefers consistent moisture and nutrients during the summer. Suitable for sun or partial shade both in open ground, even in the southernmost parts of Sweden.
Hardy to about -15°C, but the roots cannot tolerate frost. Older specimens can be protected with a cover over the roots during winter. Younger individuals are usually moved in pots indoors, for example, to a conservatory. European fan palm develops best in a bright indoor location.
Remarkably easy to care for and grow, this palm is extremely tough and perfect for both experienced and novice growers. Buy Dwarf Palm online!
