Veins are beautiful and easy-to-care-for groundcover small plants.
Fittonia grows in the shady undergrowth of rainforests, where it often thrives in dark and humid conditions, but also does well indoors and grows nicely in relatively dark corners.
It acts as a small ground cover, forming dense mats, with a height of about 10 cm. It can also be grown as a hanging plant in an ampel.
Care.
Veined leaves thrive best in a semi-shaded, warm place with slightly higher humidity and should never dry out completely. It can be given regular plant food about every other week. It has no special requirements for its soil, a good potting soil is sufficient, e.g. our peat-free potting soil.
Botanical description.
Fittonia albevensis, as the species is called, originates from South America and is one of the most popular small houseplants and terrarium plants.

Appearance.
The leaves, which are between 3 and 6 cm in size, have clearly contrasting leaf veins. There are many different varieties of this plant with different colors. Despite this variation, all these forms belong to the same species, Fittonia albivenis. The name Fittonia verschaffeltii, which is often used, is a synonym for F. albivenis.
