Rare variegated fiddle-leaf fig with creamy white marbled violin-shaped leaves

The fiddle-leaf fig is a tropical tree with impressive, violin-shaped leaves that can grow up to 15 meters tall in nature, but indoors it can be kept much smaller through pruning. The variegated form is significantly rarer than the common fiddle-leaf fig and has leaves with creamy white to light green sections against a deep green base color, often in marbled or sectoral patterns where each leaf is unique.

This is a perfect houseplant for a corner where you have less floor space but can utilize vertical space to create depth and height in your indoor jungle.

Despite its reputation, Ficus lyrata is actually an easy-to-grow plant for bright indoor locations and not as difficult to care for as many believe. However, the variegated form grows slower than the green one, as the light sections contain less chlorophyll.

Care

Thrives in bright, indirect light, preferably near a window but protected from direct strong midday sun. For the variegated form, plenty of light is especially important, partly so that the plant has enough energy to grow, and partly so that the variegation is preserved. Direct sun, however, can burn the light sections, which are more sensitive than the green ones.

Water when the top few centimeters of the soil have dried out. Let the soil dry slightly between waterings but avoid complete dehydration.

Prefers high humidity but adapts to normal indoor air. Wipe the leaves regularly to keep them clean and free from dust. Ideal temperature 18-24 degrees Celsius.

Fertilize monthly during the growing season. Prune to control height and encourage branching. Repot every two to three years in well-drained potting soil. Buy Ficus lyrata variegata online!
