Colorful orchid hybrid with raspberry-red flowers and a sweet citrus scent, blooms abundantly all year round
Oncidopsis Nelly Isler (also known as Burrageara Nelly Isler) is a colorful and beautifully fragrant orchid hybrid. It is a cross between Oncidopsis Stefan Isler and Miltoniopsis Kensington, and was created in Mr. Isler's greenhouse during the 1990s. To create this variety, the breeder crossed no less than four different orchid genera.
The flowers are large and eye-catching, flowering is abundant and long-lasting, and each flower spike can bear many flowers simultaneously. Indoors, it can bloom at any time of the year, and flowering lasts for three to four weeks.
The flowers emit a mild and sweet, citrusy scent with a slightly peppery note, especially noticeable during the daytime.
Nelly Isler is a fantastic orchid for anyone who desires both color and fragrance in their orchid collection.
Care
Thrives in bright locations with indirect light, partial shade, never full sun. Prefers even moisture in an airy and well-drained growing medium.
Room temperature during the growing season and a little cooler in winter, about 10-15 degrees Celsius. The plant must have a drier, cooler resting period when new pseudobulbs have formed, which usually occurs in winter.
Repot as needed in orchid compost, preferably mixed with sphagnum moss. Fertilize with orchid fertilizer during the growing season.
