Easy-to-grow, very beautiful miniature plant
With its mostly unbranched, upright stem and pinnate, circularly arranged leaves, it resembles a miniature palm plant. The plant flowers continuously and is self-fertile, making it an interesting plant for terrarium cultivation.
Biophytum sensitivum forms a "crown" with a diameter of about 10-15 centimeters and a height of up to 40 centimeters, but usually remains smaller, growing only about 15-20 centimeters high.
Botanical description
Although it resembles Mimosa pudica and its leaflets can also fold up, it is not closely related; it belongs to the oxalis genus and comes from Southeast Asia.

The plant even self-seeds through explosive seed pods after just a few months. With good care, you will soon have a small, self-sufficient population!
Care
Thrives in constantly moist and warm conditions, at least room temperature. No direct sun & folds its leaves under dry conditions. Place in a bright spot with indirect light.
Keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. Prefers high humidity, perfect for terrariums. Ideal temperature 20-26°C. Use well-draining potting soil like our peat-free mix.
Fertilize sparingly during the growing season. The plant easily self-seeds through explosive seed pods, so you can soon have several plants. Remove withered flowers if you want to limit self-seeding. Buy Biophytum sensitivum online!
