Rare but easy-care small Begonia
This small begonia grows in the wild on damp rocks (lithophytic) or tree trunks (epiphytic) and has thick, succulent leaves that store water. This allows it to withstand short periods of drought and is not as sensitive to low humidity as many other tropical begonias.
Wild plants usually have completely green leaves, but sometimes specimens appear with a red "eye mark" at the base of the leaf stalk. A fun contrast that gives a slightly unusual appearance.
The leaf stalks and creeping rhizome are covered with small orange to brown hairs. The plant stays low and compact, and prefers more light than many other begonias, but still grows quite slowly. The flowers are white to light pink.
Botanical description.
This species originates from Central America. It grows mainly as an epiphyte in humid, tropical environments.

Care.
It thrives best in semi-shaded locations and warm temperatures, but does not like it when it gets too hot. It does not appreciate temperatures above 30 °C for extended periods.
Water preferably from below so that the leaves are kept dry. Are you looking for a truly unusual but easy-care begonia? Buy Begonia conchifolia online!
