Hybrid with deep green, almost black leaves marked by strong silvery white veins
This Alocasia is relatively easy to care for but still offers a very 'unusual' appearance. The plant reaches 40-60 centimeters in height and has become one of the most popular Alocasias in cultivation.
Botanical description
Alocasia 'Amazonica' was created in the 1950s by Salvadore Mauro at Amazon Nursery in Miami, Florida, by crossing Alocasia sanderiana and Alocasia longiloba 'Watsoniana'. The name comes from the nursery, not from the Amazon, as is often misunderstood.
This cross has proven to be exceptionally successful and has generated many famous "cousins" including Alocasia 'Polly', which is a smaller mutant of 'Amazonica', but also 'Venom', 'Mortefontanensis' and 'Purpley'.
Care
Thrives in bright, indirect light without direct sun that burns the leaves. Water when the top few inches of soil have dried out, let the soil dry slightly between waterings but avoid total drying out. Overwatering leads to root rot.
Use well-drained substrate mixed with perlite and orchid bark, like our aroid soil. Prefers high humidity (60-80%) but adapts to normal indoor air. Ideal temperature 18-25°C, minimum 15°C.
The plant may go dormant during the winter and lose its leaves, this is natural. Reduce watering during the dormant period and increase again when new growth starts in the spring. Fertilize monthly during the growing season. Buy Alocasia Polly online!

The plant looked good but the soil is not adapted for the plant type, I was expecting a proper soil buying from a specialized place
