The Golden pothos is almost immortal
Golden pothos, or Epipremnum aureum , is a true classic when it comes to easy-care green plants, perfect for those who tend to forget to water. Goldenrod can handle both shady corners and dry periods without a problem.
The yellow-motley coloring on the leaves is actually not something we humans have bred, it is a natural variation. Then of course there are lots of named varieties with more pronounced or different motley, like 'Neon', 'N'Joy' or 'Manjula'.
Botanical description.
It is believed that the species originally comes from the island of Mo'orea in French Polynesia, but today it grows practically everywhere in tropical and subtropical parts of the world. In addition, the Golden pothos has become invasive in many places.
Due to a genetic defect, it almost never flowers, and all Golden pothos in cultivation seem to originate from the same mother plant that has only been propagated vegetatively.
Care.
Golden pothos is extremely hardy and will tolerate most conditions, as long as it is frost-free.
Give the Golden pothos something to climb on, and you will see a different side of it. The leaves can then become enormous, up to 80 cm long! The leaves also take on lobed shapes that are reminiscent of an adult Monstera! Read more about Golden pothos care here. Buy Golden pothos online!
