Hoya mathilde splash, a variegated hoya with silvery spots.
Hoya mathilde 'splash' is particularly appreciated for its decorative leaves with unique silvery spots and fragrant flowers. The leaves are thick and succulent, which makes the porcelain flower particularly easy to care for.
Botanical Description
Hoya Mathilde's name remains somewhat unclear, named after someone's daughter. It is a hybrid between Hoya Carnosa (China and Japan) and Hoya Serpens (Himalayas). Mathilde Splash is a variegated variety with very decorative leaves.
Appearance.
The leaves are small, round to oval with a pointed end, dark green with distinctive silvery spots or "splash."
The flowers are star-shaped with five petals. Sweet and intensely fragrant, especially in the evening. Blooms mostly in spring and summer, but can bloom several times a year under the right conditions.
Care.
Porcelain flowers thrive in well-drained soil, preferably a mix for epiphytic plants with bark and perlite like our aroid soil . Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate some direct sun. Let the soil dry out slightly between waterings. It is sensitive to overwatering.
It grows climbing or hanging, depending on how it is trained. It has epiphytic roots, which means they naturally grow on other plants without parasitizing.
Hoya mathilde splash is relatively easy to care for and is resistant to varying conditions. Buy Hoya mathilde splash online!
