Unique Anthurium hybrid with large textured, shiny leaves.
Anthurium luxurians x radicans is an unusual hybrid between two different species . Anthurium luxurians' veins and a bubbly, raised structure give the hybrid a unique three-dimensional appearance. Anthurium radicans is characterized by a thick, creeping or hanging growth habit and strongly elongated, bulbous leaves. The combination leads to a very exclusive appearance.
Care.
The parents come from a shady, warm and relatively humid environment. They thrive best in partial shade without direct sun and require high humidity of at least 60% . The soil should be kept evenly moist but not wet, as the roots will easily rot otherwise, and it should never dry out completely. An airy substrate, such as our aroid soil, works excellently.
The hybrid is slow-growing and needs regular feeding. An orchid food every two weeks or organic food such as worm castings a couple of times a year gives good results.
Botanical description.
Anthurium luxurians has never been observed in the wild, but is believed to originate from the western part of the Andes in Colombia.
Anthurium radicans is believed to originate from southwestern Brazil, but its exact origin is unknown as it is only known from botanical collections. It belongs to the Chamaerepium and is the only species in this group.
Appearance.
The plant is characterized by a dense, creeping or hanging growth habit and its strong, bulbous leaves. It is a small plant with leaves rarely growing longer than 50 cm. Of all Anthurium varieties, luxurians probably has the most extreme form of bullae, the characteristic "blisters" on the leaves. Something that is reflected in the hybrid Anthurium luxurians x radicans.
The plant does not climb but creeps or hangs, making it well suited for hanging baskets or low plantings. Buy Anthurium luxurians x radicans online!
